Preventive Maintenance
Tire Mounting, Balancing & Rotation
Tires are too expensive to wear out early. Regular rotation and proper balancing protect your investment and keep the ride smooth.
Signs you may need tire service
Tires are one of the priciest wear items on your vehicle, and the fastest way to throw money away is to let them wear out early. Rotate them on schedule and keep them balanced and you'll get the miles you paid for, plus a ride that doesn't beat you up on the highway.
Mounting and balancing done right
A tire that isn't balanced right sends a shimmy through the wheel and chews itself unevenly while it does. We mount and high-speed balance every tire so the wheel runs true. If you've got a vibration that shows up around 60 to 70, balance is the first thing we check before chasing anything more expensive.
Rotation and uneven wear
Front and rear tires wear differently, so rotating them spreads that wear out and stretches the life of the set. A good rule is every other oil change, but if we see one tire scrubbing on an edge, that's usually not the tire's fault. It points to alignment, a worn suspension part, or low pressure, and we'll tell you the real cause instead of just selling you rubber.
Truck and diesel tires
Heavier trucks and diesels run higher loads and pressures, and a tow rig in the North Georgia hills works its tires hard. We handle light-truck and diesel-truck tires and make sure they're balanced and inflated for the weight you actually carry.
Tire Service — common questions
How often should I rotate my tires?
A solid default is every 5,000 to 7,000 miles, which lines up with about every other oil change. We rotate them when you're in for service so it's one less trip for you.
My wheel shakes on the highway. Is that a balance problem?
Most of the time, yes. A shake that shows up at highway speed and smooths out when you slow down usually means a tire is out of balance or threw a wheel weight. We'll check balance first before looking at anything pricier.
Can you fix a flat or do I need a new tire?
If the puncture is in the tread and not too big, we can patch it from the inside, which is the right way to do it. If it's in the sidewall or the tire's worn out, a patch won't hold and we'll tell you straight.
