Turbocharger Service & Repair
A failing turbo robs power and can take the engine with it. We diagnose boost problems and repair or upgrade your turbo correctly.
Signs you may need turbocharger service
A failing turbo robs power, and if it lets go it can send debris or oil straight into the engine. We diagnose boost problems properly and repair or upgrade your turbo the right way, so you're not chasing the same noise twice or paying for a part you didn't need.
Find the leak before you blame the turbo
Most low-boost complaints aren't a dead turbo at all. They're a cracked charge pipe, a blown intercooler boot, a sticking VGT, or a boost-control fault. We pressure-test the whole charge-air system and check actuator function before condemning an expensive part, because replacing a healthy turbo fixes nothing and empties your wallet doing it. We'd rather find the cheap boot than sell you a turbo.
VGT actuators and the variable-geometry headache
Duramax, Cummins, and Power Stroke variable-geometry turbos use vanes that carbon up and actuators that fail. The truck feels lazy, throws boost codes, or surges at cruise. We diagnose the actuator and the vane mechanism, then clean, repair, or replace only what's actually bad, not the whole assembly on a guess.
Repairs and legal upgrades
If your turbo is done, we'll replace it with the right unit for how you use the truck. Tow heavy or want more reliable power for the North Georgia hills? As an authorized BD Diesel Performance dealer, we fit street-legal turbo upgrades that improve performance without defeating any emissions equipment. We don't do deletes and we don't do anything that puts your truck out of compliance. Want a straight answer on whether your turbo is worth saving? Call or text (912) 601-7083.
Turbocharger Service — common questions
Is the whistle from my turbo a problem?
Sometimes. A new or louder whistle often means a boost leak in the piping rather than the turbo itself. We pressure-test the system to find exactly where the air is escaping before recommending anything.
Why is there oil in my intercooler piping?
A light film can be normal, but a real puddle usually points to failing turbo seals or a crankcase-ventilation issue. We inspect the turbo and the breather system to tell which it is.
Can you upgrade my turbo without making it illegal?
Yes. As a BD Diesel dealer we install street-legal turbo upgrades that keep your emissions equipment intact. We don't do deletes or anything that takes the truck out of compliance.
